Farmers become online stock traders.

Livestock Live (LSL) launched last week and is the first online trading platform for buying and selling livestock, this new concept brings the farming industry and animal sales into a new era.

Livestock Live is a virtual online marketplace offering sellers / farmers the flexibility to sell animals from the comfort of their home or office without having to transport them to a mart. The seller has the flexibility to sell animals over a number of days or even up to a month instead of having to accept the price of a mart on the day. Livestock Live reduces the stress on animals as they are not taken to a mart and held in a pen for the day. Livestock Live can reduce the time farmers and sellers have to spend on the sale of animals as the there is no travel to the mart or waiting for their lot to be called. This also reduces the farmer’s carbon footprint with less journeys and animal trailers/trucks on the roads. LSL will allow better traceability of animals and reduction of movements of animals which is imperative in the current times.

Livestock Live opens the world of selling and buying animals to a mass audience rather than only those who attend the local mart/sales. LSL charges are lower than a mart commission, saving the seller and buyer money with also the possibility of achieving a higher price for the animals due to a wider audience.

Livestock Live has already secured an agreement from one of the world’s leading livestock exporters with a commitment to using Livestock Live trading platform to buy and sell over 200,000 animals per year.

Farmers/sellers across the world can register free and upload their entire herd onto the online platform. This allows the farmer/seller to manage their stock with great detail (herd number, tag number, sex, breed, age, weight and latest TB test date). Farmers can input and manage weight increases in animals over a period of time allowing them to assess the best pasture, food, or time of year to fatten animals. The software will allow the farmer to monitor increases in weight calculated to a daily rate. LSL accepts a CSV upload from the Department of Agriculture which will upload a farmer’s entire herd number in a matter of seconds. Barcode scanners can also be used scanning the animal passport.

Once a farmer/seller wishes to sell/auction an animal, a simple click of a button enters the animal into the global auction platform. Simply attach a minimum of one photo image (up to eight photo images, video and documents can also be uploaded), enter the reserve price per weight (per kg) for the animal (total price) and the system will set the auction live. A seller may choose the length of the auction, one day up to 30 days. LSL will only charge the seller a set fee of £10 for entering an animal into an auction.
Buyers must prefund their account within the secure LSL platform (much like any trading platform). Once a buyer’s account is prefunded they can bid on animals in the global auction platform. Buyers may choose to use the “Auto Bid” button and enter their ceiling price for an animal, the buyer may continue with their days work and LSL will auto counter bid on behalf of the buyer up to their entered ceiling bid.
The seller may accept a bid anytime during the auction however LSL will auto accept the highest bid once it is above the reserve price at the end of the auction. This allows the seller to enter animals into auctions for a day or month and continue with their normal working day and LSL will do the work of selling the animals. Once the seller accepts a bid from a buyer LSL will charge the buyer £10 for using the software.
LSL will securely hold funds to the value of the total auction price of the animal from the buyer’s prefunded LSL account on behalf of the seller. LSL will transfer a deposit to the seller of 10% of the purchase price to secure the animal. On confirmed collection/delivery of the animal by the buyer and seller through the LSL software, the remaining 90% of secured funds will be auto transferred to the sellers LSL account.
LSL contains an “Alert” profile which allows buyers to set up a profile of the type of animal they are interested in buying. LSL trading platform will then send an alert emails to the potential buyers notifying them of the auction and how to view the animals.
Throughout the entire process email confirmations are sent to both buyer and seller and upon agreed sale/purchase of an animal auto invoices, remittance advice and receipts are generated for the buyers and sellers accounting records.
LSL contains Sage compatible accounting export functionality which will ensure both buyers and sellers are always up-to-date with accounting records.
LSL contains an up-to-date news section with European and world agricultural news stories.
Up to date trading prices of animals across Europe and the world will also be available on a stock exchange type ticker bar on the home page. LSL has a dedicated “Market Insight” page detailing market trends, top movers,
