Milk Prices To Remain Unchanged At Muller

Posted 07/01/2015

Dairy farmers across the UK are set to benefit from Muller's decision to hold milk prices for February. The firm has announced a price of 25.90 per litre for members of the Muller Wiseman Milk Group who do not supply supermarkets.

The Managing Director of Muller Wiseman Dairies, Carl Ravenhall, said the firm was doing everything it could to be as efficient as possible while remaining competitive: "We recognise that this is a tough time for dairy farmers and we are doing everything we can to maintain a leading milk price, whilst retaining our ability to compete, particularly against processors and farmer owned co-operatives who reduce their milk prices with little notice."

The Chairman of the Muller Wiseman Milk Group, Roddy Catto, praised the news, saying: "This is good news and reflective of Müller’s intention to do what it can against a backdrop of falling milk prices in the UK and around the world, to ensure that MWMG farmers are receiving a standard milk price which is significantly ahead of many others available in the UK."

Muller's decision is in stark contrast's to Dairy Crest's move to reduce its February milk price by 1.2ppl. Arla cut its January price and it is not known yet whether it will do the same for February's milk price.
