Livestock Live Set to Transform Livestock Market With Free To Use Auction Platform

Posted 11/12/2014

The livestock market is set to be transformed by a free to use online auction platform which will enable both individual users and livestock marts to make substantial savings when trading livestock.

Livestock Live’s new software will be available free to charge to livestock marts across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Unlike existing solutions, marts will not have to pay a license fee to use the software and could offer potential savings of around £10,000 per year.

Marts can run auctions with features such as live video streaming from the auction ring, bidding from the mart floor and online, auto invoicing for buyers and receipts automatically sent to buyers and sellers. An accounting management system for marts is included as part of the software. Sellers can save time by preloading their livestock up to four weeks in advance of the mart and can set reserve prices, weight estimates and animal grades online.

Individual users are set to benefit from the free to use online auction platform. Users will no longer have to pay a £10 commission when buying and selling livestock and non-livestock items, creating significant savings. It is now completely free to browse, sell and buy items on the auctions at Livestock Live.

A new internal messaging system lets buyers ask sellers questions about their livestock and items for sale. Other key features for buyers and sellers include advertising livestock and non-livestock items for sale, auto bidding, email alerts and automatic receipts/remittance advice.

Brendan Hannigan, founder and CEO of Livestock Live, said: “Today’s announcement marks an important step for Livestock Live as we look to grow the number of livestock marts and individual users who benefit from the service. Farmers are becoming increasingly comfortable with the online buying space and I believe that this free of charge service will act as the catalyst for an expansion of online buying and selling of livestock across the country."

“We are committed to helping our customers improve their businesses and are already developing new features and functionality which will be released over the coming year and which will be free of charge to users.”
