UK: Devon's rain ruined county show cancellation to cost £500,000

The Devon County Agricultural Association cancelled the last day of the show on Saturday the 24th May. Heavy rained poured and poured turning the site into a huge soggy mud pit. Car parks where no longer fit for purpose.

Locals rallied around towing cars on and off the site with tractors, but despite the extra measures the DCAA was forced to cancel the final day’s event. A show spokesman confirmed that the DCAA did not take out and insurance policy to cover them against losses incurred through wet weather. Reasons for this were that the premiums were too costly.
