2014 NFU Cymru Dairy Stockperson of the Year Award Winner Announced

Posted 17/10/2014

The winner of this year's Dairy Stockperson of the Year Award has been announced. Carl Poole, from Meifod, Powys, scooped the prestigious award after being nominated by his employer, Jonathan Wilkinson, who runs Dyffryn Farm near Welshpool.

Carl helps manage over 300 Holstein pedigree cows, with an additional 220 followers. He has worked in the farming industry since he was at college, taking on his current role of herdsman at Dyffryn over ten years ago.

The chairman of NFU Cymru's Milk Board, Aled Jones, said: "We received a record number of entries this year, but what struck me and my fellow judges the most was the high standards amongst those who work in the dairy industry - it is reassuring and heartening to see. So many Welsh farms would not be the successful economic units they are if it wasn’t for the continuous and reliable efforts put in by employees like Carl."
