Beef sector to get boost from Dovea Genetics' new facility

Irish farmers are set to get a major boost from Dovea Genetics' new bull stud facility, which was recently opened by Tom Hayes, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine. 

Located in Thurles, County Tipperary, it will be home to thirty of the best beef and dairy bulls from the company, with the ultimate aim of collecting and processing semen. Dovea Genetics' new building is part of a €1m investment programme, which will also its headquarters revamped, as well as further investments made in accountancy and IT infrastructure.

Minister Hayes said: "Ultimately genetic improvement facilitated through A.I. Centres like Dovea will deliver increased profitability to the farmer and provide quality raw material to the processing industry which is critical to achieving the growth targets set out in Food Harvest 2020."
