Red Tractor aiming for the most successful Red Tractor Week yet

Posted 31/07/2014

Farm assurance scheme, Red Tractor, is aiming to make this year’s Red Tractor Week its most successful yet. Held on the 15-21st September, it will be fronted by cheese maker, food writer and musician Alex James, former bassist of the indie band Blur. He said: “The Red Tractor logo is easy to spot and it sends a very clear message - ‘Quality, food you can trust’. Looking for the logo is the simplest way to buy into sound farming practices; certified standards throughout the food chain, covering animal welfare, safety and traceability. Labels can be very confusing; the Red Tractor is the only one I look for.”

The aim of the week is to create awareness for the scheme among shoppers in the 25-40 year old range, but schoolchildren will also be encouraged to learn more about where their food comes from. Red Tractor has been working with organisations such the National Farmers Union and the British Nutrition Foundation to create resources for primary and secondary schools across the UK.

The high profile event should benefit Red Tractor’s farming partners. Over 88,000 farms are part of the scheme, and that number will grow even further if the week proves to be a success.
